How to Get Over Your Fear of Rejection

One simple exercise to toughen your ego through risk-taking

You just got rejected. Isn’t that the worst feeling? Wish you could just shrug it off and say it didn’t hurt?

Turns out, a quick search on Google shows many articles supporting the claim of how rejection affects a person's psyche. One such article, called “Emotional responses to interpersonal rejection” states the crippling effect of being rejected. It says:

“Interpersonal rejections constitute some of the most distressing and consequential events in people’s lives.”

Ouch, no wonder we tend to avoid rejection. It only seems reasonable (and logical), to stay safe and to avoid getting hurt. As the article states, who wants to feel distressed?

Turns out though, when you are not getting rejected, you are also not taking the necessary risks. One might even avoid risks altogether; however, this is not good. According to the article, “Why Take Risks? Four Good Reasons According to Emerging Adult College Students” posted in the Journal of…
