I am sure if you have ever had to ask for help at your job, you probably encountered these self-destructive thoughts:

Asking for help shows weakness

They will think I am not fit for the job.

Asking for help shows you are stupid

They will know I don’t know everything.

Asking for help shows you are a fraud

They will think I am not right for the job (imposter syndrome).

But maybe…

Asking for help shows that you are strong

I will at first feel vulnerable when I ask for help. That vulnerability will make me afraid that the person can harm me. But I need to stop these thoughts.

I will acknowledge that the fear is there, but I will then let it go.

It will come back.

But when it does, I will feel it again and then let it go again.

The more this happens, the stronger I will get.

Asking for help shows you are smart
